Connecting Echometer and Jira is 3-step process:
Generate Credentials (once per Workspace)
Echometer needs to know the base URL (without any /issues or so at the end of it) of your Jira instance, and will generate credentials for it. You can do this under my.echometerapp.com/o/workspace-id/integrations (replace 'workspace-id' with your workspace ID). Echometer will then generate and show to you a Consumer Key and a Public Key, both of which you will need for the second step:
Create Application Link (once per Workspace) An Application Link in Jira needs to be created, so that Jira knows to trust calls coming from Echometer and how to verify them. This process differs depending on which Jira Version you are using:
Authenticate individual users (once per Workspace Member)
Every user that wants to use the Jira integration needs to connect their Echometer Account with their Jira Account, so that Echometer can create Jira issues on their behalf. This is done by going to https://my.echometerapp.com/account, scrolling down to the Jira integrations, and clicking the “Authenticate” button for the workspace you want to connect.
Echometer can only use Jira issue types that satisfy some requirements regarding their field configuration. Fields with these IDs need to exist: summary, description, project, issuetype and reporter. There can be additional fields, but those must be optional and cannot be required.
The default Jira issue types satisfy these requirements, but if you have a custom config, have a look if you need to change it to work with Echometer. Creating a special “Echometer Action Item” issue type could also be an option to work around this, if you can’t or don’t want to change your field config.
